July is all about summer. Pool time, vacation time, and plenty of outdoor time is what July is all about . If your mouth waters at the sizzle of a grill or the glimpse of a farmstand, you’ll want to be sure you stay cool and stop by and see us to satisfy your summer cravings.
Try Grillaxing this 4th
Feeling ready to kick back and enjoy the summer? Well, we’ve heard the term chillaxing- chilling out and relaxing- but we have a new way to enjoy July we call Grillaxing. This is not your dad’s barbecue and it’s not limited to just the July 4th holiday! Grillaxing can be enjoyed all summer long.
It starts when you visit Paul and our new butcher, Brian, to find out about our freshest picks and finest cuts of meat. (Spoiler alert- we have some new items coming to the meat case!)
Next, you’ll want to plan an afternoon grilling, relaxing, and chilling out enjoying some delicious delicacies paired with with the season’s best tomatoes, zucchini, and farm fresh corn. Pair this with your favorite summer tunes, refreshments, and company and you’ll be Grillaxing like a pro.
Remember- the point is to relax so Grillaxing is best enjoyed when you serve low-key side dishes, too. Don’t forget the sides of potato salad, pasta salad, ready-made green salads, and other unique offerings from our deli case. Don’t forget the sweet treats of pie, cookies, and festive cupcakes to complete the Grillaxing feast!
Keepin’ your Kitchen Cool
Summer weather is typically hot and pretty humid here in the Philly burbs. The last thing most of us want to do is heat up our kitchen by cooking. And, after all the summer fun we have planned, we just don’t feel like cooking some days! So, we’re making it easy to keep your crew full and satisfied with some great summer foods highlighting the best of the summer harvest.
Zucchini boats
Vegetarians and meat-lovers alike rave about these specialties. Flavorful, fresh, and perfect for a summer dinner al fresco and paired with a nice sparkling water or sparkling white wine.
Summer on the Farm
If you crave farm fresh produce there’s no need to drive out to the country this season. That’s because Adam and Frank have begun the trek back to Lancaster to pick out the finest tomatoes and other farm-fresh produce. We select only the finest of the harvest for you and will keep you posted with what’s ripe and some great tips and hints on how to enjoy summer’s best produce.
Onions
These onions will make you cry tears of joy! To really enjoy all these onions offer, consider trying them in a new way. We like this Caramelized Onion Jam that is so simple to make and takes your grilled meats or fish to a gourmet level. Try serving it on top of a round of goat cheese and garnish with summer berries and you’ll have an instantly impressive summer appetizer.
If a summer staple for you is burgers on the grill, try your hand at making this tasty Roasted Onion Mayonnaise as a unique condiment. Move over ketchup and mustard to make way for this instant classic!
Tomatoes
If you wait all year for a red-ripe Lancaster tomato, you’re not alone. If you want to try to enjoy them in a new way, try preparing this Simple Gazpacho. Pair it with a hearty italian bread and parmesan cheese and you have a filling and refreshing summer dinner best enjoyed al fresco!
If you’re a traditionalist, simply pick up a loaf of crusty bread and top with roasted garlic, a bit of mayonnaise then layer some freshly sliced tomatoes. Top with a sprinkle of sea salt and maybe a bit of fresh basil and enjoy the best tomato sandwich of the summer.
